USDGA Founded in 1983

The United States Dental Golf Association was founded in 1983 by Dr. Sanford S. Golden along with a number of other members of the United States Dental Tennis Association. Its purpose was to provide a program of science and golf that could be embraced by those dental colleagues interested in golf and advancement of their dental knowledge.
The first Desert Classic was held at the LaQuinta Country Club, LaQuinta California. Our clinician members have been fortunate to experience state of the art dental research and techniques during our scientific sessions along with having been exposed to some of the finest golf courses in the country.
The late Dr. Jason Goode guided this organization as Executive Director and mentor during its growth and development from 1985 until 2000. His vision and devotion enabled the USDGA to prosper and grow.
Dr. Joel Tieg guided our organization from 2001- 2005. We have appreciated Dr. Tieg’s devotion and dedication to the ongoing success of our scientific sessions and securing top notch golf courses in the country for our group to play.
Dr. Ernie Thompson from Portland, Oregon has graciously accepted the position of our new executive director. Dr. Thompson will be assisted by several other members of our organization and together they will be able to help coordinate the next several meetings with input from each of our members as to where we should play and what types of continuing education to secure from year to year.
Annual meetings have in the past been held in Palm Springs, California, Scottsdale and Tucson, Arizona, and Jacksonville, Florida.
